Things to do while bored at work #1

Play I-spy with someone on MSN!

(This works as long as you pick normal office items - except windows when your fellow player works underground tee he he - sorry Christy)

Blogging and accordions

Do you ever get that feeling that you really want to blog but can't think of anything to write about??

Yesterday I applied for my University accomodation at Swansea. I had to answer lots of questions about ME so that they can put me with people I might get on with (as opposed to ones I definitely won't). One of the questions was about why I wanted to have a room to myself. I thought about putting 'doesn't everyone?' but eventually settled on the fact that I play the accordion..I mean who would want to be in the same room let alone hall with an accordion player ha haa!

Hopefully it will work.. :)

Bother...every time I work out who all my stalkers are I get a new one...so..to all my lovely stalkers out there..can you just post a comment and tell me who you are.

I am proud to have so many of you people obsessed with my blog and having stalkers just shows how famous i am (for proof read the latest book by Jasper Fforde - Something Rotten). I'd just like to know who you all are.

These guys must have been...

Check out the elmo :D

Why when you type in a web address of a blog with the www. do you not get the most recently updated version...but when you plough straight in with the name you do??

e.g. http://www.jajblog.blogspot.com

compared to http://jajblog.blogspot.com

...and why do I still think everything is a conspiracy 2 weeks after stopping taking larium??

ps. Um...don't try and answer the second question unless you have a qualification in understanding such things...I don't want to be made more paranoid than I already am.

EDIT: And why do I have to keep refreshing the server ??? ie. Ctrl + click refresh ...grrrrrrr

I took my friends Sarah, Sarah, Sophie and Georgina to London for a day of (almost) free events on Saturday which was such fun…here is the general idea:

Free Swing Dance lesson at the Imperial war museum as part of the VE day celebrations. It was such fun and all got filmed for TV (although they didn’t actually show it in the end). As we were leaving the museum we stopped off to have photo’s taken with a guy dressed as an ARP amid much WW2 banter…a guy from the Sunday times took Sarah’s picture with her leaning seductively over ARP wardens shoulder wearing his helmet….he he he.

Met up with Sarah H at the RFH where she was sat listening to the free jazz concert that was on there.

Ran across the bridge during crazy hail storm and made our way to Charing Cross to purchase lunch

2.00pm (ish)
Next we travelled to St Martin’s in the fields for 2 hilarious hours of brass rubbing, with Sarah B shouting “more shiny” every 2 minutes as Georgina and I rubbed our fingers raw. The ladies in the crypt were very nice though and congratulated us on how shiny it was (huzzah) and said we were amazing brass rubbers!!!

We travelled out into the light accompanied by an angelic chorus being rehearsed in Trafalgar Square and bought ice creams from a very nice ice cream vendor – the one opposite Charing Cross…highly recommended – and talked about trampolines, broken fingers and other such exciting stuff.

Travelled to the Science museum.

We made our way straight to the launch pad an interactive area for ..um…small(ish) people and began to press all the exciting buttons etc. While I went to watch the bubble show (so exciting…she set fire to methane bubbles!!!!) Sarah managed to beat the record for building the highest foam block tower at launch pad (16 blocks – a new record) which considering she is a physics student at Oxford and not a very small child is quite an achievement!

It was brilliant fun and all for under £10…well if you didn’t eat huge quantities of lunch and ice-cream or choose to do absolutely huge, far too shiny, brass rubbings! Um..which some of us did! :D

X marks the spot

So...to continue what I was saying yesterday...voting...

I stayed up till about 1.00am this morning watching the election results come in and laughing at the MP bickering around J.Paxman's table...it was great! I have decided that (as I have nothing better to do today (except work)) I will write to Eric Forth my new/old MP and comment on two things:

a) Why does it not tell you anywhere at elections what you are actually supposed to put into the boxes. I am not the only one confused by this apparently and it is obviously a very serious issue for first time voters (he he )

b) If it is such an anonymous voting system why do they transfer your personal code from the sheet they cross you off on...to the back of your voting card?? Technically someone could sit down and work out who everyone voted for. (thanks Chris for pointing this out to me)

Here I go...

ps. How amazing is e-bay...I spend far too much time on it looking at heffalump and pirate related things....it's great!

Yes as the title suggests...I have voted...for the first time in my life!

It was really (un)exciting...I just wandered in... waved my card... drew a nice artistic x in a box

(NB. Nowhere did it tell you how to mark your box...does it have to be an x? Should I have ticked it?? Does anybody other than me ever actually worry about these things)

after some time admiring the pretty logos, the nice dotty x that they had marked my paper with (ah..maybe that was a hint as to what I should do) and just generally dithering and then placed my vote in a box :D!!!

Wow...long sentence...

Anyway...that was my morning... and I am very chuffed!

Films films films

I went to the cinema twice this weekend...this is of course not excessive (really it isn't) because it was an extra long weekend huzzah! The first film I saw was The Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy! It was awful! They had taken out all the best jokes, completely mangled the story and the words DON'T PANIC....were on the BACK COVER!!!!!!!! Madness!

On Monday however I saw the best film I have seen in AGES....Pooh's Heffalump Movie!

and lumpy..the cutest little heffalump ever, even sang the fantastic little green frog song:

"Mmm, mmm!" went the little green frog one day,
" Mmm, mmm!" went the little green frog.
" Mmm, mmm!" went the little green frog one day,
And the little green frog went Mmm, mmm, Aaah!

But we know frogs go,
(clap) Tra la la la la la,
(clap) Tra la la la la la,
(clap) Tra la la la la la,
We all know frogs go,
(clap) Tra la la la la la,
They don't go Mmm, mmm, Aaah.

I was so excited that Chris had to stop me from jumping around and blocking the view of all the small people in the audience...there were so many you would have thought it was a children's film!

I recommend that you all go and see the Heffalump ...and just avoid the new hitchhikers guide at all costs!
